Welcome to our Tubular UF membrane

Food & Beverage

In the food and beverage industry, water is more than just a raw material—it plays a vital role throughout the entire production process. As the demand for sustainability, high product quality, and efficient resource management continues to rise, tubular ultrafiltration (UF) membrane technology is becoming an increasingly preferred solution for advanced water treatment and reuse.

Tubular UF membranes operate in an external cross-flow configuration, offering outstanding resistance to fouling and excellent mechanical strength. This makes them highly effective in dealing with the variable water quality commonly found in food production facilities, such as fluctuations from batch processing, cleaning-in-place (CIP) discharges, and high organic loading. The UF system efficiently removes suspended solids, colloids, bacteria, and certain macromolecules, delivering consistently clear filtrate. With turbidity typically below 1 NTU and SDI values under 3, these membranes provide high-quality feedwater for downstream processes like reverse osmosis, minimizing maintenance and maximizing system uptime.

In many facilities, UF membranes are a core component of membrane bioreactor (MBR) systems, enabling efficient biological treatment and solid-liquid separation. This not only enhances the removal of organic contaminants but also facilitates water reuse for non-potable applications such as boiler feedwater, cooling systems, or equipment cleaning—reducing water consumption and promoting sustainable production. UF technology proves especially valuable in high-load applications like dairy processing, brewing, juice production, and condiment manufacturing, where it can maintain high permeate fluxes (80–200 L/m²·h) even when treating activated sludge with concentrations up to 40 g/L.

Moreover, tubular UF systems feature a compact, modular design, ideal for facilities with limited installation space or retrofitting needs. Constructed with chemically resistant materials such as PVDF, they withstand harsh cleaning agents and maintain long-term operational stability. When paired with anaerobic treatment technologies, UF membranes also support wastewater-to-energy solutions—recovering biogas such as methane for on-site energy use and further reducing the plant’s environmental footprint.
